Ingredients for the dumpling filling:

  • ground pork/beef
  • soy sauce
  • pinch of salt (optional)
  • white onion
  • garlic
  • cabbage leaf
  • frying oil

Filling:

1. Add some frying oil to the pan and half – fry the meat. A type of juice will come out of the meat. Save it for further use.

2. Cut the white onion and cabbage into fine pieces. Grind the garlic, or if you want you can also cut it with a knife into very small pieces.

3. Put the meat and the juice from the pan and into a bowl. Add the some soy sauce, a pinch of salt and mix it with your hands.

4. Add the vegetables into the bowl as well and mix all together.

Ingredients for dumpling dough:

  • All purpose flour
  • Water

Making dumplings:

1. Form the dough into a “worm – shaped” line and cut small pieces off with a knife.

2. Roll the small pieces/balls untill you make a round, thin dumpling sheet.

3. Add a small spoon of the filling to the center of the sheet.

4. Fold the sheet in half and seal it with your hands. There are a lot of ways Japanese dumplings can be fold, so go check it on Google.

5. Next add a very small amount of frying oil to the pan and place the dumplings in it. Pour water on the dumplings, untill they are half covered. Cook on medium heat, and put the lid on.

6. When all the water has evaporated, take off the lid, spread some more oil around the dumplings and put the lid back on. Cook for another 2 minutes.

7. When you see that the bottom of the dumplings is golden brown, remove them from the pan and serve warm.

You can also make a dumpling sauce out of soy sauce and garlic, to make it even more delicious.

Good luck, and bon appetit!
